To follow up on an earlier post, it's harder to make new friends as an adult. When you're young, you don't even have to have anything in common with new friends--they just happen. Be the fat penguin--be the one to break the ice (words of wisdom by Dave Coleman). Pick up new hobbies, ask friends to bring people to join in on happy hours, camping trips, etc., take a class (a recreational or educational), volunteer, get involved in your profession, join a civic group (like Rotary), sharpen up your marketable skills (Toastmaster), etc. There are so many ways to meet new people, you just have to put yourself out there!

Nice. I just started participating in Toastmasters this month! But, not so much to make friends, but more to improve my communication. And, get better at interviewing as well as be able to communicate more clearly & professionally.
